Edible Forest Gardens: Bought it After All

Just last week I wrote that I was thinking of purchasing Edible Forest Gardens by Jacke and Toensmeier, but that it was too expensive. Luck and generosity came my way so I could buy it anyway. Amie really got to see how happy books can make her, when the mailman brought the big box (2 big volumes) to the door.

I bought Edible Forest Gardens after hearing the author speak at Berkshire Botanical Gardens. I found it to be a very dense book. I will pass it around and hope to feel as though I got my money’s worth from it. It is very hard for me to part with that much money. I keep thinking of all the seeds, bushes, trees and perennial plants I could have bought with it.

I know, I love it! I’m reading as an ecology primer, with a practical twist. I love the charts and the bits about patterns in nature. I’m really an academic at heart…
But yes, for me too it was hard to part with the money: in the end it cost me $79. That IS a lot of seeds…
